CEA consumer buying guide website : The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced new interactive buying guides and other educational materials available at MyCEknowhow.com to help consumers find consumer electronics (CE) products best suited for their needs. The website is the place to learn about the latest technologies, concepts and terminology before consumers head out to retail stores. In addition to educating consumers, CEA hopes to ease consumer confusion about technology and lessen returns by providing information before consumers even enter the store. Launched just in time for the holidays, the buying guide features everything from "how to buy a digital camera" to storing, printing and sharing digital photos.

Holiday wish list - Digital camera
Digital cameras were the number one gift last holiday season and are third on the adult CE wish list in 2005, according to CEA's 12th Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns Study. "With digital cameras ranking so high again this year - consumers will find this guide a critical resource as they head out to stores to fulfill holiday wish lists," said Dickerson. In addition to viewing the website's tutorial buying guides presented with Flash media, consumers visiting MyCEknowhow.com can print out PDF summaries that serve as a checklist they can take into the store.

"The goal is to provide the consumer with a tool to do some homework before heading to the retail store where product selection and variety can sometimes be overwhelming," said the Director of Strategic Relationships for Emerging Technologies Kara Dickerson. MyCEknowhow enables the consumer to get exactly what they want and need by providing the resources to make an educated purchase."
MyCEknowhow.com - Buy Consumer Electronics products
"This website is dedicated to serving consumers. Buying CE products can be a difficult decision with so much technology out there that is constantly being changed or improved. There is so much information available; this site serves as a place where consumers can learn about different CE products and gather information from a trustworthy source," Dickerson said. By year's end, MyCEknowhow.com will add a buying guide focused on MP3 players with more guides to come in 2006. Links to other CEA consumer-based initiatives such as antennaweb.com, which helps consumers identify the best antenna for their geographic location, and techhome.com, which provides links to local installers, also will be added.
