NikonNikon have announced a new Vibration Reduction (VR) lens, the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED – a range only available from Nikon. In addition to the VR system which minimises blur caused by camera shake, this new optic incorporates advanced features such as SWM for quiet operation and is even smaller than its predecessor, the AF Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D IF. The AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 IF-ED was developed in response to the demands from mid- and higher-range SLR users for a more affordable, highly portable high-power VR zoom lens. The new lens offers 5x high-power zoom capability and wideangle coverage from 24mm.
It also features Nikon’s world-renowned optics in the form of two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and two aspherical lens elements. The lens adopts the Internal Focusing (IF) design, and employs M/A mode for rapid switching between autofocus and manual focus operation.

This G-type Nikkor lens is designed with no aperture rings, and offers easier, virtually mistake-free operation because the aperture does not need to be set to minimum. It is fully compatible with the F5, F100, F80,F75, F65, F55, D1-series and D100 cameras.

The AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED will be available from March at the rrp of £529.99

Major Features are: High-power zoom lens with 24-120mm zoom range only available from Nikon, incorporates more highly advanced features such as SWM and VR more affordably and in a more compact design than its predecessor, SWM for ultra-fast, ultra-quiet AF, VR system offers the equivalent of using a shutter speed 3 stops faster (at 120mm), High-power 5x zoom lens with focal range starting at 24mm for greater covering power, New high-quality optical system featuring two ED glass elements and two aspherical lenses to minimize chromatic aberration while providing superior overall performance, The rounded diaphragm (7 blades) makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural, M/A mode for rapid switching between autofocus and manual focus operation, Internal Focusing (IF) design for smoother focusing and great body balance, High-grade Nikon Super Integrated Coating (SIC) offers superb colour reproduction while minimizing ghosting and flare, Flower-shaped Lens Hood HB-25 (provided) greatly reduces stray light, New Nikkor cosmetic design, G-type lens with no aperture ring (set aperture on camera body).
