 Leica Digital Adapter 2 : Leica Camera AG, Solms has introduced a new adapter for connecting high-performance Leica TELEVID scopes with digital cameras and camera phones, enabling both observation and digital photography at high magnification through a scope. The Leica Digital Adapter 2 is optimally prepared for use with the new Leica D-LUX 2. The D-LUX 2 digital camera features an integrated image stabilizer for added protection against blurred images in all photographic situations, and is therefore particularly suitable when working with the long focal lengths customary in digiscoping. Clearly readable even in daylight, the bright display of the Leica D-LUX 2 is ideal for frame selection and image composition when digiscoping.

Leica Adapter 2 - Digital camera accessory
Combined with the Leica TELEVID scope models and eyepieces, the camera provides ambitious bird- and nature watchers with a complete high-performance Leica Digiscoping outfit for nature photography. The Leica Digital Adapter 2 is pushed onto the eyepiece of the scope and fixed in position. The Leica D-LUX 2 can then be attached to the adapter and aligned with a simple clamping mechanism. The user can select one of three aspect ratios (16:9, 4:3, 3:2) by switching a lever on the camera lens and thus capture what he sees in a frame-filling digital photo of impressive quality without vignetting.
Leica accessories - Phonescoping
Thanks to its extremely flexible clamping mechanism, the Leica Digital Adapter 2 is compatible with a large number of compact digital cameras, irrespective of their filter thread or tripod screw. Even portrait and landscape photos can be taken by simply turning the adapter. For the first time ever, even camera phones can be used for digiscoping applications with the new Leica accessory. This new application, also called phonescoping, is becoming increasingly popular with birdwatchers. The new Leica Digital Adapter 2 will be on sale at Leica stockists from the end of November 2005.
