NikonNikon S3 review : During the IFA 2005 press conference the Nikon Coolpix S3 was presented as the successor of the Coolpix S1 and S2, which were also introduced this year. Nikon continued with the same design, the reactions to it are extremely positive, so why change a successful concept? In addition, it offers the higher shooting performance of 6.0 effective Megapixels and features innovative Nikon functions that enable the user to improve images in-camera. The aluminum exterior makes the Coolpix S3 very attractive. The Nikon S3 camera is available in the colors: Ivory white, Matt black, and Platinum silver. We managed to get our hands on the latest Coolpix S-serie camera, the results can be found in the following Nikon S3 review.
Nikon S3 reviewNikon Coolpix S3 - Large LCD monitor
The Nikon Coolpix S3 has a large, bright 2.5-inch LCD monitor, which does away with the need for a viewfinder and makes it easy to play back shots on the spot. Operation is easy thanks to a choice of Graphic User Interfaces (GUI) that gives the user the ability to select functions by either name or icon. A handy HELP button displays easy-to-understand explanations for functions on the main menu, and equally helpfully all information can be displayed in the user’s choice of 12 different languages.

Nikon Coolpix S3 digital camera - Slim and Powerful
Like the S1 and S2, the Nikon S3 manages to pack a powerful 35-105mm 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens (35mm equivalent) whilst retaining a surprisingly slim depth of just 19.7mm. The lens also makes use of Nikon’s “right-angled” optics system, which enables the lens to function throughout its focal range without ever protruding from the camera body.

Nikon Coolpix S3 review
The Nikon S3 is equipped with an image sensor delivering 6 Megapixels of resolution which is more than sufficient for the average consumer to reach a nice print. The compact size and the beautifully finished housing make you grab the camera to take it with you when leaving home. And that is the power of this light compact camera; take it with you wherever you go, shoot everything around you and enjoy the end result. The Coolpix S3 camera was used by us in practice for a short period of time. The S3 camera withstood every curious glance with pride. It's remarkable to see that comments from the public always come with a camera designed like this one, a well figured out marketing concept… However; somehow we managed to get away from the nosy crowd to use the camera in practice. To what extend we liked the Coolpix S3 can be read in our Nikon Coolpix S3 review by clicking on the link below.
