Olympus Stylus 600 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the Olympus Stylus 600 Digital camera. The Olympus 6 Digital features a 6 million pixels CCD, a precision 3x zoom lens (1:3.1-5.1, equivalent to 35-105mm in 35mm format) and 3x digital zoom. Olympus’s BrightCapture technology enables the Stylus 600 to come into its own once the light begins to fade. A 6.4cm Olympus HyperCrystal LCD, offering three times the contrast of an ordinary LCD, provides an extraordinary viewing angle of up to 160°, returning clear pictures and minimal screen glare in just about any situation. HyperCrystal ensures color variation across its 215,000 pixels is kept to a minimum.

Olympus Digital 600 - Display
According to Steve Sanders: "The large 2.5-inch "HyperCrystal" LCD works great outdoors, even on the brightest of days, and when used in low-ambient lighting it "gains up" to help brighten your subject; this is a very useful feature considering the LCD is the only viewfinder. The only downfall I found to this display is that it is very prone to fingerprints. Shooting performance was robust. The image quality of its SHQ images was not quite up to par for a 6-megapixel model…"
Olympus Stylus 600 Digital - Steves Digicams review conclusion
Steve continues: "Indoors is where the Stylus 600 performs best, even though it was designed to be out in the elements. The autofocus system worked quite well in low-ambient lighting, however it was very loud and would benefit from an AF-assist lamp. Although it can record QuickTime movies at resolutions of 640x480, 320x240 or 160x120, I was a little disappointed that there was not a built-in microphone or speaker included on this model to record and playback sound.
