CypressCMOS image sensors demonstrated by Cypress :Cypress Semiconductor Corp. announced that it will demonstrate its portfolio of CMOS image sensors including the LUPA-300 VGA image sensor, the new 9 Megapixel digital still camera (DSC) image sensor, ACM-100 automotive camera module and the 3 Megapixel camera phone image sensor at the 18th Annual International Trade Fair for Machine Vision and Identificaton Technologies (Vision 2005). Developed for machine vision and motion analysis applications, the LUPA-300 low-power VGA image sensor features a high frame rate of 250 frames-per-second, a triggered and pipelined synchronous shutter that delivers undistorted images, and X- and Y-windowing capability.

The new 9 Megapixel CMOS image sensor is ideal for high-end digital still cameras. The cost-effective image sensor offers low dark current and low noise, on par with that of more expensive charge coupled devices (CCDs). These features deliver outstanding image quality, enabling camera makers to meet the increasing demand for high-performance, economically priced single-lens reflex (SLR) DSCs. The Vision 2005 event will be held 8-10 November, 2005 at the Stuttgart Trade Fair and Convention Center in Stuttgart, Germany.

ACM-100 automotive camera module
Designed for the automotive and intelligent transportation markets, the ACM-100 automotive camera module delivers both wide dynamic range and high sensitivity for superior performance in the most demanding applications. The module features Autobrite(R) technology, enabling the industry's widest dynamic range for optimal performance in scenes with varied lighting. In addition, the ACM-100's high near-infrared (IR) and exceptional low light sensitivity enhances data capture at night and contributes to overall safety system performance. Typical applications include adaptive cruise control, night vision, collision mitigation and blind spot detection.

Cypress 3 Megapixel CMOS
The high-quality, low-cost 3 Megapixel CMOS image sensor brings digital still camera quality to camera-enabled mobile devices. This new sensor delivers high-resolution images using the 1/3-inch optical format popular for lower resolution devices, allowing manufacturers to upgrade their offerings without the cost of incorporating new optical lenses. The 3 Megapixel imager is Cypress's first image sensor targeted at mobile devices. The new device takes advantage of Cypress's three-transistor (3T) pixel technology to dramatically improve low light sensitivity without increasing pixel transistor count or sacrificing image quality. In addition, it also incorporates Cypress's patented Autobrite(R) technology, which provides superior dynamic range so both bright and dark areas within the same image appear clearly.

Cypress image sensors
Cypress's broad CMOS image sensor portfolio spans both the high-end and consumer mass markets. Cypress delivers high-performance sensors for custom and high-end digital photography; ultra high-speed imaging solutions for automotive safety, machine vision and motion analysis; and consumer-oriented solutions for ultra-slim digital still cameras, single-use cameras and camera-enabled mobile devices. CMOS image sensors complement Cypress's technology and market strengths. The sensors expand Cypress's existing presence in digital still cameras, where it sells a broad array of timing solutions; in the automotive sector, where it sells configurable microcontrollers and memories; and in mobile phones where it is a leader in low-power memories.

About Cypress
Cypress solutions are at the heart of any system that is built to perform: consumer, computation, data communications, automotive, industrial, and solar power. Leveraging a strong commitment to customer service and performance-based process and manufacturing expertise, Cypress's product portfolio includes a broad selection of wired and wireless USB devices, CMOS image sensors, timing solutions, network search engines, specialty memories, high-bandwidth synchronous and micropower memory products and reconfigurable mixed-signal arrays.
