OlympusOlympus magnifier eyecup ME-1 : The new Olympus Magnifier Eyecup ME-1 increases the viewfinder performance of the recently-launched Olympus E-500 digital SLR by providing views 1.2 times larger than normal. It also fits on the Olympus E500 its forerunner, the digital Olympus D-SLR E-300. Simply attach the eyecup magnifier in place of the standard eyecup and enjoy bigger views of subjects. Ease of use is thereby significantly enhanced during focusing and framing. The eyecup incorporates two lenses and measures 40 x 30 x 12mm. This very helpful accessory will be available from December 2005. The Olympus E-500 SLR was introduced last September 2005 and provides 8 Megapixel resolution and the Olympus-exclusive Supersonic Wave Filter.

With 8.0 million pixels, the Olympus E500 ensures subjects are always recorded in brilliant detail. Furthermore, rather than using an ordinary Interline Transfer CCD, this model incorporates a Full Frame Transfer CCD (FFT CCD). This type of CCD has a larger pixel area, because there is no dedicated transfer channel, instead the photodiode itself is used for this purpose. As a result, the FFT CCD captures more electrons, to deliver a higher signal/noise ratio and a wider dynamic range.

Olympus E-300 - FourThirds system
The Olympus E300 digital SLR brings the advantages of the FourThirds Standard, previously only available in professional systems, to many more photographers. FourThirds was jointly developed by Olympus and Kodak especially for digital capture and sets standards on three levels, mechanical, optical and communication, to maximize the performance of camera body, image sensor and lenses.

Supersonic Wave Filter - Innovation
Dust entering SLRs when swapping lenses is virtually impossible to prevent. Even very minute particles can ruin shots if they land on the CCD. To save users the time and cost of cleaning the chip, the camera offers an ingenious solution. Developed by Olympus, the Supersonic Wave Filter generates ultra-high-speed vibrations to shake off dust and/or other particles, which are then captured on a special adhesive part. This function is invoked at each start-up of the camera but may also be manually effected.

Olympus FourThirds system - Digital SLR
The Olympus E-System is the world's first digital SLR system to be based on the FourThirds Standard jointly developed by Olympus and Kodak. The professional system has been designed exclusively for digital photography. It currently comprises the Olympus E-1 SLR body plus a range of interchangeable lenses and other accessories.
