Steve's DigicamsOlympus FE100 review at Steves Digicams : Our good friends at Steves Digicams have published their review of the new Olympus FE-100 digital camera. The new FE-100 digital camera from Olympus is equipped with a 4 million pixels CCD image sensor and features a 2.8x optical zoom. This little digital camera is developed for the beginner and hanks to the controls being conveniently positioned and buttons having just a single dedicated function, operation is as easy as it sounds. Video sequences, limited in length only by the available memory, can also be captured. And due to PictBridge support, connection to compatible printers, such as the Olympus P-11 photo printer which prints in just 33 seconds, is possible without the need for a PC.

According to Steve: "Having all settings under one menu, there's no more switching from the Record menu to the Setup menu. The FE-100 features a 1.5-inch LCD which is the only viewfinder on the camera. It worked well outdoors with very few angles that reflect the sun, however indoors it fails to "gain up". Shooting performance was a little disappointing. Power up to first image captured was about 4.5 seconds. Its 4-megapixel SHQ images are sharp with wonderful color saturation."

Olympus digital camera - Steves Digicams review conclusion
Steve continues: "Noise levels were surprisingly low in areas of contrast, but I did notice some traces of purple fringing around extremely bright objects in our sample photos. Indoors it excelled at portrait photography. Bottom line, the Olympus FE-100 will make a great camera for the consumer who needs a very affordable model with good image quality, but doesn't necessarily need to be able to capture images at blazing fast speeds or record high-quality video. Its 4-megapixel SHQ images can create beautiful prints up to 8x10-inches. You want to learn more about the new Olympus digital camera? Continue to read the Olympus FE100 review at Steves Digicams!
