2006 Photokina : Regardless of whether you are watching vacation pictures on TV, happily viewing your grandchild’s first tentative steps on screen, enjoying the latest Hollywood production from your home cinema’s media server, or make a security check of your home from all over the world via Internet: images are always the focal point of multi-media networks in the home. That’s why Koelnmesse will be offering exhibitors and visitors at Photokina 2006, the leading trade fair for the global imaging sector, a user- and trade visitor-oriented platform for presenting practical solutions suitable for everyday use in the integration of information, communication and entertainment technologies.

Photokina cologne - Lifestyle media
Titled “lifestyle media at Photokina,” this new platform will focus on utility and comprehensive system solutions and applications. At the same time, it will reveal how these solutions can be professionally and efficiently imple-mented. Lifestyle Media at Photokina is divided into the three areas of entertainment, communication and information, and images are always at the heart of the solutions. The new platform will be located in the “Audio visual Presentation and Communication Technology” section in the new Hall 9.
Imaging world - Presentation platform
A clear advantage of the new presentation platform is that it offers exhibitors the opportunity to present their products and services without limiting themselves to any particular component or sector. In addition, it gives end consumers, who are expressing increased interest in “prosumer” products and systems, an extensive insight into the various ways the systems can be used. This means Photokina provides companies with a new, marketing-related event platform for their products and services. And the fair also offers visitors an orientation platform that helps them decide if, when and how they can or should use the new range of products. Its aim is to create closer links between producers, retailers, service providers and consumers.

The end consumer, in turn, will realize that the oft-mentioned multimedia environment of the future can already be a reality today at home, and that you don’t have to be a computer geek with a big bank account to do so. That’s because “lifestyle media at Photokina” will focus on solutions that can immediately and easily be installed into everyone’s home. As a result, retailers and service providers will have the opportunity to address a new group of customers who are interested in the possibilities of multimedia home networking and looking for suitable solutions.

The products and services shown at “lifestyle media at Photokina“ are divided into three areas: The activities and presentation area will provide exhibitors with a platform where they can display comprehensive system solutions and applications suitable for everyday use in the entertainment, communication and information technology sectors. The platform is augmented by an area for forums and presentations, where consumer-oriented talks will be given to provide visitors with an overview of existing applications and explain their practical use. The B-to-B area, which is open to registered trade visitors only, will provide specialist dealers, architects, planning engineers, electricians, AV technicians and other experts from the sector with the opportunity to intensify their contacts, learn about innovative business segments and establish new business relationships. Photokina takes place from 26th September to 1st October 2006 in Cologne.
