DPreviewThis year has been a very interesting year for flash manufacturers. 1GB is no longer an exotic flash card, even 2, 4 and 6GB cards are close in sight. Some weeks ago Pretec announced the 6GB CompactFlash type II card, quite a prestige moment for them, but the price tag of this high capacity storage card is just too high! According to the original press release the Pretec 6GB CF type II card will cost around $7999. Compared to the 1GB Ultra II CompactFlash of SanDisk, which costs around $300, it is not that difficult to predict the price winner. But prices are not everything, so they say. The performance is also very important. Phil Askey was able to get his hands on the Pretec 6GB CompactFlash type II and the Lexar 40x 4GB type II card.
Both cards were compared with the SanDisk Ultra II type I card and a 1GB IBM Microdrive. You are looking for a high capacity CompactFlash storage card but you would like to know "what is the best value for money" and "which card performs the best", don't look further and hop on over to DPReview.
