HPHP's Snapfish online photo collection helps victims : HP today announced that customers of its Snapfish online photo service who lived in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina will be offered a credit to replenish their online photo collections in an effort to help restore lost memories. Each customer will be offered a free 4 x 6-inch reprint for every photo they had uploaded to their Snapfish account prior to the hurricane. The credit will remain in their account indefinitely so affected customers can wait until they are resettled to order prints. HP estimates that more than 10,000 Snapfish customers lived in the damaged areas. Collectively, they have roughly 3 million images stored online.

"In the days following Hurricane Katrina, we received many emails from our customers that where hit by it, telling us how relieved they were to know that their photos were safely stored on Snapfish," said Ben Nelson, vice president and general manager, Snapfish, HP online photo service. "These often heartfelt and personal messages inspired us to take action. The messages also serve as a reminder to us all to store and protect our most precious memories, which are truly priceless."

HP company foundation
The HP Company Foundation and HP employees have committed more than $3 million to the hurricane relief effort. This total includes a $1 million donation by the HP Company Foundation to the American Red Cross as well as a $1 million donation to match employee contributions. District Photo, a photo finishing processor, will partner with Snapfish to fulfill and replenish photo reprints requested as part of this offer.
