PanasonicDuring our last show report of the CeBIT Bilisim 2003 in Turkey we informed you about the new D-Snap products from Panasonic. During this show employees of the Panasonic booth showed the very slick and stylish designed D-Snap SV-AS10 camera. Today Panasonic introduced another new D-Snap product, the SV-AV50 camera. The AV50 is a new product in Panasonic's D-snap series, offering a new lifestyle concept with the slogan "Snap – View – Fun." Using Secure Digital Memory Cards as storage media, the D-snap series is a line of advanced mobile AV products presenting a new value proposition. With the new SV-AV50 the frame rate for video recording has been doubled to 30fps (in extra –fine recording mode).
Panasonic introduces the SV-AV50 SD Multi CameraThis provides the same level of flicker-free picture quality as broadcast TV. A jog ball mounted in its slim body provides easy operation for shooting, playback and setting adjustment. Also, videos stored on the "DIGA" DVD Video Recorder (DMR-E100H) can be recorded to SD Memory Cards at high speeds of up to 240 times ("DIGA" MPEG4 video recorded in economy mode) normal playback speed (a 1-hour program in 15 seconds). The AV50 can play such SD Memory Card content for viewing convenience outdoors and on the move. The product also has AAC/MP3 music playback and voice memo functions.

The AV50 can play such SD Memory Card content for viewing convenience outdoors and on the move. The product also has AAC/MP3 music playback and voice memo functions.

The product offers a new freedom in audio-video lifestyles: During leisure or commuting time, people can view recorded TV programs (Transferred to SD Memory Cards via "DIGA" DVD recorder), shoot videos and still photos, and listen to music away from home.

Detailed information about some features:

1 30fps MPEG4 Video Shooting (extra-fine recording mode)

Enhanced MPEG4 video achieves 2 times smoother motion, recording 320 x 240 pixel images at 30 frames per second. This is the same rate as TV broadcasts (NTSC).

2. Magic Action Mechanism

The design is slim and stylish for carrying, but the lens and monitor pop out instantly for shooting in a comfortable vertical orientation. Since the lens and monitor are protected when not in use, this design is not only stylish, but also allows the AV50 to be carried casually in a pocket or bag. During playback, the AV50 can be oriented horizontally for viewing comfort.

3. 2.0 Megapixels CCD

The 2.0 Megapixels CCD can provide beautiful still photo results. The AV50 also has a 2.5x digital zoom, making it practical as a digital camera for business and personal use.

4. Video Transfer with "DIGA" DVD Recorder

TV programs stored on the hard disk of the "DIGA" DVD Video Recorder (DMR-E100H) can be transferred to SD Memory Cards at up to 240 times normal playback speed. For example, a program recorded the night before may be transferred rapidly (1-hour program in 15 seconds) to SD Memory Card in the morning for viewing on the AV50 while commuting, etc. Transfer from SD Memory Card to DIGA hard disk is also possible. This is handy for backup of video shot with the AV50.

5. Easy Operation with Jog Ball

The Jog Ball makes it easy to perform menu selection and other operations. After taking a sequence of photos, the jog ball can be turned to rapidly review them on the monitor.

6.2-hour Continuous Music Playback

Accepts AAC and MP3 digital music formats. Incorporates S-XBS circuit for high-sound-quality music playback.

7. Voice Memo

Using the Voice function, you can record just sound on the SD Memory Card, great for meetings and voice memos, like you would use an IC recorder.

Specifications are:

For power a 3.7V battery is needed. The camera has a 1/3.2-inch CCD with an effective number of 1.95 Megapixels, focal length 4.5mm, brightness f4, 2.5x digital zoom, 2-inch LCD monitor with 117,00 pixels, a built-in microphone, A/V interface, Secure Digital recording media, JPEG, MPEG4, MP3, dimensions of 48.9x101x20mm and a weight of 103g.
