SanDiskSanDisk provides Samsung mobiles with TrustedFlash : SanDisk Corporation today announced that Samsung Mobile Communication Division, one of the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers, will be our lead partner in providing mobile phones that support the new SanDisk TrustedFlash cards. TrustedFlash offers mobile phone manufacturers like Samsung superior storage, security and content management capabilities on their handsets. The removable TrustedFlash memory cards from SanDisk will be sold in the popular SanDisk microSD, miniSD and Secure Digital formats. These cards include the intelligent cryptographic engine needed for the storage of premium content, such as music, video, and games, on flash memory cards.

The TrustedFlash technology also opens up new capabilities for flash memory cards, such as recording mobile TV standards like DVB-H and DMB. TrustedFlash cards will also be used in mobile commerce applications in the future. Having TrustedFlash support will give users of Samsung’s mobile phones direct access to the most current content. These cards also provide easy access for consumers to purchase albums, games and videos, either through the Internet or through their wireless provider. The two companies worked closely together to integrate SanDisk’s TrustedFlash software development kit (SDK) into Samsung handsets.

Samsung adopts SanDisk TrustedFlash technology
Yoram Cedar, senior vice president for Emerging Mobile Markets at SanDisk, said, “Samsung Mobile Communication Division manufactures some of the most exciting handset models in the market today, with music and video playback, games, over-the-air downloads and other cutting-edge services. SanDisk is pleased that Samsung Mobile Communication Division has adopted TrustedFlash to help consumers get the premium content they crave, and we look forward to working with Samsung on many exciting mobile entertainment projects.” Additional launch partners for SanDisk’s TrustedFlash platform include Yahoo!
