Ricoh GR digital preview : In all these years since we have been around we have seen quite a number of cameras, and to be honest, most of them are not that exciting at all. Some models are developed just to function as a follow-up without any new features or improvements at all, just a new colour and a new name. Today, we give you an exclusive preview of a digital camera that is developed from the heart and mind of a photographer, for a photographer... The Ricoh GR Digital is a camera that awakens old memories and reminds you of those days when film was the universal platform instead of a flash card. The sample we have used for our preview is not a final sample, although close to a full production model.

Ricoh GR Digital - Features
In addition to a CCD with 8,13 effective Megapixels, the Ricoh GR digital camera boasts superb resolution through a newly developed high-performance lens, image-processing algorithms, and other innovations, as well as low noise and low chromatic aberration. The GR Digital camera inherits the superb image quality that made the award winning GR Series (first launched in 1996) of 35mm compact film cameras so popular, as well as the depictive performance to satisfy professional photographers, distilled into a compact 25mm thin body.
Ricoh GR camera - One of a kind
The Ricoh GR Digital is a kind of camera that GR-fans or owners of one of Ricoh's analogue GR series cameras have been waiting for. From a photographer's point of view it is a joy to see that a company like Ricoh takes the effort to develop a digital jewel like the Ricoh GR Digital. A fantastic high quality GR lens, a great versatility as a result of using the converter to create a 21mm lens and the highly attractive optional viewfinder that gives the Ricoh GR Digital a distinctive look and feel. Having had the pleasure of using the GR1 analogue version together with the GR Digital camera I came to the conclusion that this is a successful transformation of going from analogue to digital. The Ricoh GR Digital really is one of a kind...
GR Digital camera - Design and Image Processing
The thin, compact design of the Ricoh GR Digital, 107.0 x 25.0 x 58.0mm (WxDxH), achieves both portability and ease of use as a photographic tool. You can enjoy the high-quality photography of the GR Digital any time and anywhere. Supplemental processing on adjacent pixels creates smooth, natural curves. Noise is reduced even further by including top-of-the-line components with superb characteristics in the analog circuit. During long-term exposures, heat and light sources, which can cause noise, are kept down to a minimum, enabling long 3-minute exposure times for great pictures of the night sky and similar subjects. Through image-pattern analysis, variations in auto exposure (AE) and auto white balance (AWB) are suppressed. As a result, Whites look White and Blacks look Black. Improved AF precision in macro mode. Images are simultaneously stored in uncompressed RAW and JPEG formats.
Ricoh GR Digital camera preview
We have had the Ricoh GR Digital in the office only for a short period of time, we experimented with it in and around the office and we've come to the conclusion that this is a digital camera that is one of a kind. I love the GR lens, although I cannot reach an end-result conclusion due to the pre-production status of the camera, but 28mm in combination with the conversion lens making it 21mm and with the external viewfinder packed in a compact lightweight body has been a most pleasant experience to work with..Ricoh has developed a unique high quality digital camera. A product that will find it's way to the GR series fan or the enthusiastic photographer looking for a compact, classy styled wide angle digital camera. There might be a crowd out there not appreciating the concept, but for the real enthusiastic photographer or hobbyist the Ricoh GR Digital is a wannahave by all means.. Enjoy reading the preview of Ricoh's top model, a digital version of the well-known GR camera series Ricoh GR Digital.
