PanasonicPanasonic FZ5 European Zoom camera of the year : Panasonic has won a remarkable four prized EISA Awards. The Awards include the European Zoom Camera of the Year, European DV Camcorder of the Year, European DVD Player of the Year and European Green TV of the Year - the first time this category has been awarded. EISA is a prestigious organisation of 50 Audio, Mobile Electronics, Video and Photo magazines drawn from 20 countries across Europe. The Photo Panel remarked "Small is not only beautiful but also powerful in the case of the Lumix DMC-FZ5. This very compact camera includes a fast 12x Leica zoom lens, which can be used with confidence at its maximum focal length and in low light thanks to Panasonic’s Mega OIS image stabiliser."

The judges commented further that "A 5-Megapixel CCD assures picture quality, while the Panasonic Venus Engine II image-processor ensures swift operation and provides an enhanced range of creative options." Panasonic succeeded for the seventh time in the Camcorder category with the Panasonic NV-GS250, which the Video Panel voted the European DV Camcorder of the Year 2005/2006. "From its Leica Dicomar zoom lens to its three CCD sensors and optical image stabiliser, this compact cam is an exemplary performer" the judges observed. "Panasonic has also thought hard about ergonomics, convenience and ease of use. The digital stills option yields high-res 3.1 Megapixel images, for example, and all main functions are conveniently controlled by a very practical joystick. Panasonic has long been expert in the creation of top-performing camcorders, and the high-tech new GS250 follows firmly in the family tradition."

The Panasonic DVD-S97 - European DVD Player of the Year
"Panasonic’s DVD-S97 looks youthfully slim and retails at a deceptively reasonable price" the panel remarked. "Yet it is superbly endowed with features and crammed with high performance technology. It supports a wide range of video and audio formats, and delivers a truly excellent picture both in analogue-component and digital-HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) formats. According to the judges "An excellent on-screen menu, with rapid setup, places all of the Panasonic’s power under users' complete control."

Panasonic TX-28PN1 - European Green TV of the Year
"The Panasonic TX-28PN1 was a clear winner for the first EISA Green TV of the Year Award 2005/2006" commented the impressed judges. They remarked that the TX-28PN1 analogue TV "shows how more efficient consumer electronics equipment could help make a saving." The judges concluded that "This set is built on an eco-designed chassis with reduced wiring and a small transformer lead. It aims to reduce energy consumption both when operating and in standby mode – plus it boasts a high level of recyclability."
