PhotographyBlog Nikon D50 review : DIWA member Mark Goldstein from PhotographyBlog has reviewed the latest entry-level Nikon D50 digital SLR. The D50 which inherits the image quality, high performance and user-friendliness of the award-winning D70 while introducing elements that help beginners explore their creative potential to the full. The D50 uses the Nikon DX Format sensor and Nikon F lens mount design shared by all Nikon SLR cameras for seamless compatibility with all AF Nikkor lenses, as well as the expanding family of high quality DX Nikkor lenses. Designed and built to exacting standards, every aspect of the Nikon D50s' functionality has been optimized to keep the photographer on top of the action.

PhotographyBlog - In-depth view
According to Mark Goldstein: "Despite being aimed at the new digital SLR owner, the Nikon D50 is still quite a complex camera terms of functionality and the number of external controls that it offers, with around 20 in total and many of them having more than one function. Unfortunately Nikon have changed the way that the Shutter-speed, Aperture and Manual modes are implemented on the D50. The menu system of the D50 uses the same design and layout as the D70s and is therefore very clear and easy to use."
PhotographyBlog - Nikon D50 conclusion
"The all-plastic body and 18-55mm kit lens don't initially inspire much confidence, although they are fine in actual use, and there are a number of missing features that more experienced photographers will regret not having, such as depth of field preview and mirror lockup. Ultimately the Nikon D50 provides almost everything that most photographers need in a camera (digital or otherwise), whilst delivering great ease of use and very impressive image quality," says Mark, owner/editor of PhotographyBlog. About PhotographyBlog
Mark Goldstein started his very active website PhotographyBlog in January 2003. At first the one and only purpose was to let this site function as one of those popular weblogs with Photography as main topic. But as we all know Photography is a pretty big subject to publish about so Mark decided to focus on some hot key points like mentioning all new introductions, reviews, reports from events like PMA and Photokina, sharing some impressive and creative photos and Mark's sole perspective of his feeling about this fascinating world of Digital Imaging. Mark is based in the UK, but his eagle-eye focuses global! Be sure to visit his weblog about Photography, in fact bookmark it, because we believe that Mark is pretty close to become an active and respected website. To us PhotographyBlog is one of the surprises of 2004/2005!
