Our good friends from Imaging Resource, the well-known and thorough website across this big pool called Atlantic Ocean, have posted their first look review of the new Minolta DiMAGE Z1 camera. The DiMAGE Z1 is one of the latest series of digital cameras featuring great optical zoom lenses and new designed housings. This new model was announced in August and has gained a lot of attention since then. The camera is a SLR-type camera with 10x optical zoom, equivalent to 38-380mm 35mm camera zoom. The resolution of the CCD is 3.2 Megapixels, weight of only 305g and a very compact housing. Beside being able to capture still images the DiMAGE Z1 can capture high-quality VGA (640 X 4) movies at a frame rate pf 30fps as well.

To quote Imaging Resource: "I was quite impressed though, with the way the Z1 combined a novice-friendly design with a surprising array of advanced features to satisfy more expert users. Both the price point and battery life are also impressive. Minolta also has a great track record for high-quality lenses on their Digicams, so I'm expecting good things of the Z1's optics."
