DigIT Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 review : Our good friend Kai Thon from the Norwegian based DigIT.no, and one of the founders of DIWA Awards, previewed the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 digital camera. This new model, just announced a couple of days ago, is the follow-up of the Panasonic Lumix FZ20 model and features a number of modifications resulting in a better performance and more comfort. Among the modifications are separate rings for manual zoom and focus, better wide angle and a f11 minimum aperture. Last week Kai Thon was invited by Panasonic at a press event in Sicily, Italy, where he learned more about the new Panasonic Lumix digital cameras that were introduced some days ago.

Panasonic Lumix FZ30 - MEGA O.I.S.
The other key feature, the Optical Image Stabilizer, MEGA O.I.S. is deservedly continued as Panasonic advanced the theory that it should be standard in all digital still cameras. The newly incorporated Extra Optical Zoom extends the zoom ratio by using the center part of the high resolution CCD, to achieve 15.3x for 5-Megapixel and 19.1x for 3-Megapixel images with minimal deterioration. Furthermore, by adopting a newly developed lithium-ion battery with a capacity increased from 680mAh to 730mAh, the Panasonic FZ30 realizes the shooting of approx. 280 images for one charging.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 preview
Is it just one step before you're wanna go out there and buy yourself a new digital camera? Be sure to read Kai's preview first, it could happen that the new Panasonic Lumix FZ30 digital camera is your new tool. 8 Megapixels, 12x optical Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT zoom lens (equivalent to 35mm to 420mm on a 35mm film camera) and Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) are very interesting features. Despite the preview status Kai was able to publish some samples made with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30.
