Pentax Optio 60 digital camera introduction : Pentax introduces the new Pentax Optio 60, a compact, lightweight digital camera with a stylish design and the power to take stunning images. Positioned as entry-level camera, the Optio60 places a strong emphasis on ease of use to make digital photography more enjoyable for anyone. A prime example of this is the handy Simple mode found on the Mode dial, which lets the user concentrate on the subject while the Optio60 selects the optimal settings automatically. The Pentax Optio 60 also features the advantage of a large 2.0-inch LCD monitor and an optical, actual-image zoom viewfinder with diopter adjustment that enables easier operation, even for people with a difference in eyesight.|
Pentax Optio60 - 6 Megapixels|
With many other digital compact cameras, easy operation can come at the expense of image quality, but not with the Pentax Optio 60. That’s because it offers the sheer imaging power of 6.0 effective Megapixels and the high versatility of 3X optical zoom. What’s more, such optical zooming power can also be combined with 4X digital zoom for combined 12X zooming capability, and the Pentax Optio 60 is compatible with AA batteries too which are widely available around the world, making it easy to replenish the power when traveling.
Optio 60 - Compact and lightweight
Despite its powerful 3X optical zoom lens and 6.0 effective Megapixel performance, the Pentax Optio 60 boasts compact dimensions of just 91 (W) x 61 (H) x 38 (D)mm (Excluding controls and other protrusions) and a light weight of a mere 150 grams (Excluding batteries and SD memory card ). The body of the Optio60 is also designed to house two AA batteries, while the exterior has an attractive lustrous finish and features a large diameter lens circle on the front panel. All in all, it’s a design that successfully combines skilled craftsmanship with high-level user friendliness.
Pentax - Unique Pentax Mode dial
Because the Pentax 60 offers a broad range of shooting modes, it makes it easy to get great results in many different situations. Each mode is represented by an easy-to-understand icon on the Mode dial located on the camera’s upper panel, allowing the user to choose the one that best suits the scene for satisfying automatic shooting. Altogether the choice of modes comprises Simple mode, Program mode and PICT (Picture mode: Night Scene, Landscape, Portrait and Sport modes). The Mode dial also offers greater control with settings such as Aperture-priority AE (Av), Shutter-priority AE (Tv) and Metered manual (M), as well as access to the handy Movie mode, which records movies with sound to the full capacity of the memory card. Furthermore, there’s also the “Simple” mode too, which automatically selects the best settings for the scene at hand.
Pentax Optio 60 digital camera - Sharper and 3x optical zoom
The Pentax Optio 60 makes the very most of its ample 6.0 effective Megapixel performance and powerful 3X optical zoom lens through the incorporation of two high-quality lenses that are aspherical on both sides. And taking image quality a step higher still, the 6.36 total Megapixel CCD is complemented by a primary color filter, empowering the Pentax Optio60 to achieve high-resolution images with vivid color. Composed of six groups of seven elements, two of which are aspherical, the Pentax Optio 60 offers 3X optical zoom performance equivalent to a 36-108mm lens in 35mm format. As a result, it provides the photographer with the freedom to zoom out when shooting expansive scenery or zoom in close for tightly composed portraits, for example. And taking versatility even further, the Pentax Optio 60 digital camera also offers approximately 4X digital zoom performance, which combines with the 3X optical zoom to deliver combined approximately 12X zoom capability.
Optio60 - Optical viewfinder and 2-inch LCD display
With an optical viewfinder offering actual image zoom, the Pentax Optio 60 makes composition easy. What’s more, it also features diopter adjustment, which assists in providing a clearer view for users with a difference in eyesight. The optical viewfinder even plays a part in making batteries last longer, by enabling the photographer to switch off the LCD monitor at will. Satisfying pictures can also be composed on the Pentax Optio 60’s 2.0-inch LCD monitor with approx. 130,000 pixels. Being so large, it makes it easy to view the scene at hand, and easy to play back and evaluate the image after shooting.
Pentax Optio 60 - Energy and Sensitivity
The Optio 60 is compatible with widely available AA batteries (taking two alkaline or nickel hydride batteries). As a result, the Pentax Optio 60 makes it easy to replenish power practically anywhere in the world. A selection of Standard Output Sensitivity comprising 64, 100 and 200, as well as an auto setting, make it easy to adjust the Optio60 for shooting in light of different intensities.
Pentax digital camera - PictBridge
The Pentax Optio 60 supports PictBridge, the highly convenient direct-print standard released by the CIPA (Camera and Imaging Products Association). This means there’s no need to use a computer when making a printout, just connect the Pentax Optio 60 digital camera directly to a compatible printer via USB cable and enjoy the simplicity of producing photographs directly.
