PanasonicThree new Panasonic Pro High Speed SD Memory Cards : Panasonic announced that it is expanding its Panasonic SD Memory Card line up, with the addition of three new SD Memory Cards. The flagship model is the 2GB SD Memory Card (up to 20MB/s data transfer rate) in the “PRO HIGH SPEED” Series. The other models include the 1GB SD Memory Card (up to 5MB/s data transfer rate) in the "HIGH SPEED" Series, and the 512MB miniSD Card (up to 2MB/s data transfer rate) in the miniSD Card line up. The SD Memory Card has become the de facto standard memory card format. Its applications are expanding to a vast range of digital products including Digital Still Camera (DSC), Digital Video Camera (DVC), PDA, mobile phone, digital audio player, etc.

Due to these diverse applications, the speed performances required for the SD Memory Card have been diversified as well, according to the kind of products used by consumers. To better serve these diverse consumer needs, Panasonic is expanding its SD Memory Card and miniSD Card line up by adding the three new models, thus offering consumers wider choices that can meet their varying needs and budgets.

"PRO HIGH SPEED Series" 2GB SD Card
Panasonic’s new 2GB "PRO HIGH SPEED Series" SD Memory Card is being launched in Europe in August 2005, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of ?249.99. With its outstanding data transfer rate of up to 20MB/s and its 2GB massive storage capacity, the new Panasonic "PRO HIGH SPEED" 2GB card is designed to meet tough and severe requirements including high speed consecutive shooting by high-end DSC and MPEG2 video recording by Video Camcorders. The 2GB card also offers consumers stress-free, speedy data backup when they need to transfer data to a PC. With this addition to the "PRO HIGH SPEED Series", which also consists of the 512MB and 1GB SD Cards, Panasonic is continuing to lead the SD Memory Card market for wider and sophisticated applications.

High Speed 1GB SD Memory Card
Panasonic is also adding the 1GB SD Memory Card to its existing "HIGH SPEED Series" 128MB, 256MB and 512MB SD Memory Cards. With a data transfer rate of up to 5MB/s, the new model will be available in August 2005 in Europe, at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of ?99.99. With this new entry, Panasonic "HIGH SPEED Series" SD Memory Cards are offering wider capacity options from 128MB to 1GB, thus meeting the requirements of entry-level DSC, MPEG4 video recording, digital audio player, PDA, etc. while also satisfying the needs of cost-conscious consumers.

Panasonic 512MB miniSD Card
With the rapid diffusion of mobile phones offering built-in high-resolution camera functions, as well as the expected increase of mobile phones equipped with a digital audio playing function, there is a growing need for large capacity miniSD Cards. Panasonic is introducing the new 512MB miniSD Card (up to 2MB/s data transfer rate), thus realizing the miniSD line up from 64MB to 512MB. The 512MB miniSD Card will be available in August 2005 in Europe, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of ?49.99.
