Kyocera Japan introduces colourful digital SL300R Dennis Hissink : September 12th 2003 - 22:20 CET

During the WPC EXPO 2003 in Japan Kyocera decided to support the other companies who already unveiled their latest fashionable cameras the last couple of days. The new Kyocera Finecam SL300R is the latest among the ultra compact cameras. The introduction was made during the WPC EXPO 2003 event where IT is the main thing. This new Finecam model will be available at least in eight colours, so we are talking about a rich coloured product! The Finecam SL300R is equipped with a 1/2.7" CCD and 3.17 Megapixels. This CCD results into a maximum image resolution of 2048x1536, other resolutions are 1600x1200, 1280x960 and 640x480 pixels. Beside being able to capture still images the new Finecam SL300R can also capture video clips.

These video clips are captured in a high resolution of 640x480 with a frame rate of 15fps. Other movie resolutions are 320x240 and 160x120 with a frame rate of 30 fps.
According to the details we could find the new Kyocera camera has a built-in 3x optical zoom lens and just like some Nikon Coolpix cameras, a lens compartment that can be rotated. The 3x optical zoom lens has a focal length that is equivalent to 38-115mm with a 35mm camera. In wide the brightness of the lens is f2,8, in tele f4,7. The colourful body is only 15mm thick and weighs only 125g.
On the back of the camera you can find a 1.5-inch colour TFT LCD display with a resolution of 118,000 pixels. The images are captured in JPEG format and stored on a Secure Digital card. Via the USB interface images are transferred to a computer. One who is looking for a fashionable and slick camera will be happy to learn that the Finecam SL300R will be available in silver, blue, orange, yellow, red, green, pink and charcoal.
The new Kyocera Finecam SL300R camera will be available at least in Japan around the beginning of October 2003.
