iF design award 2005
"In general it is good to see the trend in electronic products moving towards more simplicity, towards clear design without unnecessary additions, so that the essence of the product is communicated by its exterior being recognizably commensurate with the product culture - mere surface design is becoming more and more unpopular", remarked Fritz Frenkler on the products entered in the iF design award 2005.
Product designer Prof. Achim Heine
Professor Achim Heine, product designer of the two award winning Leica cameras Leica Digilux 2 and Leica CM Zoom, is responsible for the design of various Leica compact cameras, such as the digital camera Leica Digilux 1, the Leica D-Lux, the Leica C1, C2, C3 compact cameras and the Leica CM, as well as the Leica Ultravid line of binoculars. With his agency Heine/Lenz/Zizka he is in charge of many other projects of Leica Camera AG.
Leica Digilux 2 digital camera
The digital reportage camera Leica Digilux 2 can be operated like a professional analog camera: The key photographic parameters focus, aperture, focal length and shutter speed are adjusted just like a traditional SLR camera with setting rings on the lens and a shutter speed dial. The Leica Digilux 2 therefore supplements the convenient automatic functions by offering photographers scope for creativity in the familiar technique of traditional photography. A fast Leica zoom lens covers the focal length range from 28 to 90 mm. With a size of 2/3 inch for a resolution of five million pixels, the image sensor is unusually large and delivers outstanding imaging quality.
Leica CM Zoom digital camera
The design of the Leica CM Zoom is reminiscent of the timeless style of the classic Leica M cameras. Spanning the focal length range from 35 to 70 mm, the high-quality zoom lens offers generous scope for individual picture composition. The leather-coated titanium body weighs a mere 330 g and fits snugly into the photographer's hand. A large illuminated LCD display on the camera back informs the user at a glance of key settings such as exposure, flash, self-timer, frame counter and date.
About iF
