TransChipTransChip extra features in CMOS camera solutions : TransChip Inc, a leading developer of integrated camera solutions for cameraphones, announced today the inclusion of motion JPEG compression and auto focus module for its future generations of its CMOS camera solutions. TransChip's autofocus solution is based on an industry-leading piezo-electric actuator. Camera modules incorporating motion JPEG compression and auto focus functionality will be ready for mass production in Q3 2005. TransChip will be demonstrating its imaging solutions based on the AlgoCam TC7030, two megapixel imager at CommunicAsia, Singapore Expo, June 14-17, 2005.

"Many handset vendors in Asia are looking to provide similar picture quality and feature sets to digital cameras," explained Rutie Adar, director of product marketing at TransChip. "End users are seeking to capture vivid vacation memories of distant scenes with their camera phones, as well as sharp close ups of documents and business cards. Auto focus capability extends the value of the cameraphone as an effective tool for business as well as pleasure."

TransChip - Auto focus control function
TransChip's autofocus solution is based on an industry-leading piezo-electric actuator. The autofocus control function is embedded in the sensor and is flexible enough to provide focus lock for stills capture, dynamic focusing for video, and spot focus control.

TransChip - JPEG compression
TransChip pioneered the concept of fully programmable imagers with motion JPEG compression inside its CoderCam TC5740 and TC5747 VGA imagers, which were introduced in 2003 and are currently used by numerous handset vendors. TransChip's CoderCam TC7730 is the first fully programmable 2.0 megapixel solution with integrated motion JPEG compression for the cameraphone market. The CoderCam TC7730 delivers all the required hardware, software, and development tools, enabling camera applications to be designed in a matter of days, instead of weeks or even months.

TransChip - CoderCam TC7730 imagers
CoderCam TC7730 offers on-chip programmable image processing, with automatic exposure, white balance, and color correction. In addition, TransChip's imagers have built-in support for continuous and strobe light camera flash devices, and a special backlight mode that enables clear pictures of objects even with extremely bright background illumination.
