Seiko Instruments' new SLP 410, SLP 420 and Seiko SLP 430 Smart Label Printers feature a sleek new industrial design and support Mac users, for the first time. "Building on the ease-of-use of their earlier counterparts, Seiko Instruments' new Smart Label Printers are ideal for a variety of applications around the office or at home," Dennis Cox, director of sales and marketing, Business and Home / Office Products Division, Seiko USA, said. "With several of the top technology and consumer electronics distributors and resellers on board, administrative staff in all disciplines and industries can take advantage of all the features, within easy reach, right at their desks."

Create one label at a time
Seiko Instruments Smart Label Printers (SLPs) allow the user to create one label at a time for envelopes, files, storage boxes, floppy or Zip disks, video cassettes, 35mm slides, bar codes and a variety of other office and home applications. The small footprint, desktop printers also make great name tags and ID badges for parties, trade shows, conferences and other business or social events.

Seiko SLP 430 - Direct thermal printing technology
Administrative personnel in virtually any professional setting, from small businesses to large corporations, and across many vertical industries - healthcare/medical, legal, accounting, banking/finance, government, hospitality, education and real estate - find using Seiko Instruments SLPs convenient, fitting neatly on the desktop, within reach of the user. No need to walk to a centralized printer. Because one label can be created and printed on an as-needed basis, costs are kept down, the process is efficient and there's no wasted sheets of labels. Direct thermal printing technology also eliminates the need for expensive inks, ribbons or toner. For those in larger office environments who prefer to hook the printer up to the company network, each SLP is equipped with a USB and serial connection built-in.

Seiko SLP 420 - Smart Label Software
Each Seiko Instruments printer comes complete with Smart Label Software for fast, easy production of custom labels. A variety of fonts and graphics can be added. In addition, customized formats, complete with company logo and a post office-approved bar code, can easily be prepared. Address labels are easy. The SmartCapture feature lets the user instantly "grab" an address or other text from standard desktop computing applications, such as Word, Act!, Goldmine, Palm Desktop and Outlook. No typing is required. Just a single mouse click, and the information is sent to the printer.

Seiko SLP - Operating System Compatibility
Seiko Instruments Smart Label Printers are compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS 10.2 and higher, Power Macintosh G3/G4 and iMac, making printing labels from virtually any Windows or Mac application quick and easy.

Pricing, Availability & Distribution
The new Seiko Instruments Smart Label Printer models will be available in July at leading consumer electronics retailer Fry's Electronics, at the company's web site and through leading online resellers including Tiger Direct and CDW. VARs, integrators and other resellers can also place orders through leading national computer products distributor Ingram-Micro. The SLP 410 will sell for an estimated street price (ESP) of $99; the SLP 420 for $129; and the SLP 430 will carry an ESP of $179.
