Epson PowerLite S3 multi-purpose projector : Epson Canada Ltd. today introduced the PowerLite S3 multi-purpose projector, designed for office, classroom and home applications, and offering 1,600 ANSI-lumens of brightness and SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution. Housed in a 5.6 lb design, it’s driven by Epson’s 3LCD technology. When the power button on the unit is pressed, a verification tone sounds, and in five seconds, the projected image will begin to appear on the screen. The device automatically recognizes if a cable from a computer or video device has been plugged into one of its input ports, and then displays that signal immediately without having to press any buttons.

Epson S3 - Power-efficient
The S3’s power-efficient, 135-Watt lamp produces up to 1,600 ANSI lumens of brightness, and is rated up to 3,000 hours (replaceable for $249.99); while operating noise is as low as 28 db. The unit can project a 60’’ image from only 5.9 feet from the screen. It also includes +/- 30 degrees keystone correction, which Epson notes can be ideal for ceiling-mounted installations. A software-based security feature helps to deter theft and unauthorized use.
Epson S3 - Entry-level projector
“The PowerLite S3 is arguably the most value-packed, entry-level multimedia projector on the market today,” commented Tanya Raad, Sales Manager, Projection Products, Epson Canada Ltd. “Whether it’s being used for business presentations, lessons in the classroom, viewing digital photos, watching movies, or playing video games, just about any user should find it easy to set up and use. But most importantly, they will especially be impressed with the high image quality level, and other valuable features that you just won’t find from other projectors in this category.”
Epson S3 projector - Colour adjustments
The new Instant Off feature makes it possible to power down and unplug the projector immediately, eliminating delays often associated with cool-down cycles. Colour adjustment tools are offered, including several manually adjustable video controls; and different pre-programmed colour modes, accessible within the projector’s user interface, that are optimized for specific video application, such as Presentation, Theater, Game, etc. A Photo mode uses black and white enhancement levels to help make details more visible in over- and under-exposed images. Epson’s PowerLite S3 ships with a two-year limited warranty, and is currently available for $1,199.99.
