SanDiskHem Takiar promoted to Vice President at SanDisk : SanDisk Corporation today announced the promotion of Hem Takiar, 49, to vice president of packaging engineering, quality and reliability. Takiar, who has been with SanDisk for four years, oversees the packaging design and engineering that is required to develop and manufacture removable flash memory card products that are used in a growing number of consumer electronics devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, games and MP3 players. In addition, Takiar will head the corporate quality and reliability organization and will have responsibility for driving the world-class quality goals across all products.

With more than 25 years of experience in semiconductor assembly and device packaging, Takiar has been refining the manufacturing process, systems and procedures to drive aggressive quality and cost goals. He has been a key player in driving the adoption of the miniSD and TransFlash standards at the SD Card Association, an industry-wide organi-zation charged with establishing the technical and specification standards for the SD card and its applications.

Hem Takiar - Career
Prior to joining SanDisk, Takiar was director of packaging at Novalux and National Semiconductor. He holds a M.S. degree in Materials Science from University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. "Hem has played a key role in development of several leadership products," said Jose Flahaux, senior vice president of worldwide operations at SanDisk. "His contributions were instrumental in bringing new card form factors to market while meeting the stringent quality requirements of the mobile phone market segment."
