OlympusOlympus Camedia X-600 camera introduction : Olympus Japan introduces a new digital camera - Olympus Camedia X-600. The Olympus X-600 digital camera features a 5.0 Megapixel image sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens. The Olympus Camedia X-600 is an ultra compact body with a high resolution image quality. Although its size is super compact the body offers a 2-inch LCD display. Of course, Olympus is using a Xd Picture card for storage but the camera also incorporates a built-in memory of 14MB. This new Camedia model is very user-friendly and has a help function on board to provide the user first class help when needed. Beside offering a full automatic mode the Olympus Camedia X-600 has scene programs built-in.

The new Olympus digital camera features a Help function. Each feature can be explained throughout the LCD display instead of looking the explanation for each feature up in the manual. A total of eight built-in scene programs - portrait, night scene, night scene & self portrait, party shot, sports, etc. - are to be chosen by the user. It offers the convenience of ultra-compact dimensions (24.3mm thick) and light weight for easy mobility. Besides slim-line contours, this minimalist camera’s distinctive appear- ance is also thanks to the new twisting lens design.

Olympus Camedia X-600 - Easy shooting
The camera has a high quality optical system on board that contains three aspherical lens elements and provides 3x zoom power (equivalent to 35-105mm) 1:2.8-4.8, allowing far away subjects to be brought in considerably closer. No matter which zoom factor is selected, images will have a large amount of detail and definition to become photo realistic. A high resolution of 5.0 Megapixel ensures photos of outstanding fidelity. A range of scene programmes are on hand to help the user master many photographic situations. From self portraits and indoor shots to landscapes and sports photography, the camera automatically selects the optimal parameters for the selected scene programme to return picture-perfect results. These can then be checked and presented on the 5.1cm LCD monitor. Movie recording with sound and macro modes give the Olympus Camedia X-600 digital camera even more areas of application.

Olympus Camedia X600 - All-round
The new Camedia digital camera is also available in Europe under the name of Olympus Camedia FE-5500. Olympus Japan decided to introduce this 'new' camera some months later compared to the introduction within Europe. However. The new Olympus Camedia X-600 is still interesting enough to mention. Images and movies can be saved to the 14MB internal memory. Naturally, for greater storage requirements, a slot for xD-Picture Cards is incorporated. This removable memory media is currently available in various sizes up to a maximum capacity of 1GB, but larger capacities are waiting to get introduced. In addition, by using Olympus xD-Picture Cards, photographers can enjoy the added benefit of panorama shooting functionality. A user-friendly feature is the support of PictBridge. Compatibility with PictBridge means images can be printed directly on any printer supporting the standard, such as the Olympus P-10 printer, without the need for a PC. The new digital Olympus camera will be available around May 2005.
