KopinKopin will host the Vision 2005 event : Kopin Corp., manufacturer of microdisplays, today announced it will host "Vision 2005," an event to highlight revolutionary communication, gaming, entertainment, military, security and photography experiences being made possible by high-resolution mobile video. "When we formed Kopin with wafer engineering technologies developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, we did not realize how challenging it was to apply our disruptive technologies to generate products that people really need," said Dr. John C. C. Fan, president and CEO of Kopin. "I am proud that we now have products in such wide use today that are changing the way people see, hear and communicate."

Vision 2005 will also commemorate Kopin's 20th anniversary and its 15 millionth microdisplay shipped. The Vision 2005 event takes place on April 25, 2005 at Kopin's Westborough, Mass. facility, will showcase futuristic, theater-quality video in an array of mobile devices containing Kopin's micro displays. Invited dignitaries, customers, partners, media and analysts will experience, with their own hands and eyes, devices such as personal video eyewear, high-end cameras, pocket-sized phone accessories, camcorders, thermal weapon sights, and more. Guests will sample solutions from established technology giants like Samsung, JVC, Konica Minolta, Nokia, Philips and BAE Systems, as well as emerging video eyewear suppliers such as Icuiti, MicroOptical, Accupix and Oriscape. Guests will also tour Kopin's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Vision 2005 event - Kick off
Vision 2005 will kick off with a keynote address by renowned Harvard Business School Professor Clayton M. Christensen, author of the best-selling business books "The Innovator's Dilemma" and "The Innovator's Solution." Christensen will detail the nature of "disruptive" technology and explain how Kopin's disruptive products have successfully evolved in the market place. Another featured speaker is Chris Chinnock, founder and president of Insight Media, the only market research firm with an exclusive focus on microdisplay-based products. Chinnock will outline how microdisplays will reshape the mobile video and 3-D gaming market.

Kopin - Proud of the results
"The world is enraptured by video and is demanding an enthralling multisensory experience in the mobile world," said Dr. John C.C. Fan, Kopin's president and chief executive officer. "This requires three important things: miniaturization, very high resolution and unsurpassed power efficiency. Kopin is helping set the standard in all three categories. We're proud of the results so far, and Vision 2005 attendees will be able to see for themselves."

Kopin - Mobile video revolution
The mobile video revolution is made possible by a convergence of technology developments, including high-speed wireless networks, abundant content, dramatically expanding storage resources, and major gains in microdisplay technology. Near-to-eye personal displays are projected to be a $1 billion market by 2008, according to a 2004 report by McLaughlin Consulting Group and Insight Media.
