Expanding its portfolio of Kodak professional thermal photo printers, Eastman Kodak Company today announced the new Kodak Professional 6850 Digital Photo Printer. This fast digital photo printer, complete with built-in cutters, are ideal for event and professional photographers who need to deliver durable, high-quality prints immediately at the studio or on location. “As the printing demands of professional photographers grow, Kodak continues to develop faster, smaller, more efficient printing solutions to meet their needs.

Kodak Professional 6850 Digital Photo Printer: The new Kodak Photo Printer 6850 meets event photographers’ on-demand printing needs, providing customers with immediate results. Additionally, independent portrait studios will benefit from this low-cost way to produce small format, glossy photos immediately for proof or print delivery. With improved printing speeds -- 15 seconds for 6x8-inch prints and eight seconds for 4x6-inch prints - the Kodak Photo Printer 6850 delivers as many as 375 6x8-inch prints or 750 4x6-inch prints without operator intervention, improving workflow efficiency.

Supported by Windows XP and 2000 operating systems, the print drivers on the Kodak Photo Printer 6850 interface directly with personal computers and laptops, making for hassle-free portability. The Kodak Photo Printer 6850 will replace the 6800 model beginning in the third quarter of 2005, while maintaining the print quality that won the Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA) printer shootout and Technical Imaging Press Association (TIPA) awards in 2004. Available worldwide in August 2005, the Kodak Photo Printer 6850 will retail for US$2,900 (MSRP).
