Used together, these two lenses give photographers the freedom to apply a 1:2.0 aperture from a wide-angle focal length of 14mm (28mm on 35mm format) to telephoto 100mm (200mm on 35mm format).
Meanwhile, the Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 90-250mm (180-500mm on 35mm format) 1:2.8 also will impress with high brightness right up to its ultra-telephoto extreme focal length of 250mm (500mm on 35mm format). The power of this lens becomes especially apparent in situations where fast framing, such as in sports or nature photography, is necessary.
All three splash and dust-proof lenses use Super ED or ED elements, ensuring that chromatic aberration is all but eliminated to return only the finest image quality with unparalleled sharpness and definition. Furthermore, users can expect to be able to make the most from background fading effects due to the combination of wide aperture and incorporated zoom rings.
Together with the Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm (14-28mm on 35mm format) 1:4.0 lens, which is due for release in March 2005, Olympus therefore will soon offer a comprehensive range of fixed-aperture zoom lenses that meet professional specifications, extending from an ultra-wide-angle 7mm (14mm on 35mm format) to ultra-telephoto 250mm (500mm on 35mm cameras). The whole range of Olympus DIGITAL lenses now runs from 7 to 300mm (14-600mm on 35mm format).

Optics designed exclusively for digital photography
All Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses are designed to maximise the performance of digital SLRs based on the FourThirds Standard. This enables full cross-manufacturer lens interchangeability among camera systems applying the standard, as well as the use of lenses that are small and light but also have a large aperture. Nearly telecentric optics ensure images have perfect colour, clarity and brightness from the centre to the periphery of the frame. The lenses’ high resolving power make sure the image sensor obtains the detail it needs to achieve its full potential.
Further information
The Olympus E-System is the world's first digital SLR system to be based on the FourThirds Standard jointly developed by Olympus and Kodak. The professional system has been designed exclusively for digital photography. It currently comprises the Olympus E1 and Olympus E300 SLR bodies plus a range of interchangeable lenses and other accessories.
