SamsungSamsung PL50 digital camera : Samsung announces a new 10 megapixel digital camera, the PL50 - also known as Samsung SL202 in the USA - which joins the company’s popular and user-friendly digital camera models. Ideally suited for families and entry-level shooters looking for an easy-to-use digital camera, the Samsung PL50 presents a range of features that will help users effortlessly capture digital images without having to worry about becoming entrenched in technical specifications or terminology. The Samsung PL50 offers consumers a quality Samsung lens with a 3x optical zoom, as well as Digital Image Stabilization, giving users the ability to reduce the blur found in their images as a result of vibrations, hand shake, or other unexpected movements at the moment of image capture.

Samsung PL50 user friendly camera
“Affordability and simplicity are usually top of mind for the entry-level digital photographer in search of a new point-and-shoot, but that shouldn’t mean that they have to sacrifice quality or give up features when it comes to the camera they choose,” said ChoongHyun Hwang, vice president of Strategic Marketing at Samsung Digital Imaging Company. “The new Samsung PL50 is a great option for beginners that combines a number of easy-to-use features that will allow anyone, even the first-time user, to start taking digital images with ease right out of the box.”

Record MPEG videos with the Samsung PL50
The Samsung PL50 boasts a stylish, compact design accentuated by an elegant, brushed-metal finish. Powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, the Samsung PL50 gives users the ability to record high quality MPEG video at VGA resolution with a frame rate of 30fps. The video, along with photos, can be reviewed on the PL50’s 2.7-inch LCD screen. Furthermore, the camera’s advanced movie mode allows users to pause and resume recording video without having to save the clips as individual files.

Samsung PL50 equipped with Smart Auto mode
When it comes to snapping digital images, the new Samsung PL50 does the bulk of the work for the user thanks to a host of advanced automatic features, including Samsung’s new Smart Auto mode. When selected, Smart Auto will automatically choose from one of the PL50’s 11 “scene modes,” determining which best suits the environment in which the user is shooting. For example, the camera’s Smart Auto feature will automatically set the “Landscape” scene mode if the user is taking an image of a mountain range, and then select the “Portrait” scene mode if the user proceeds to take an image of an individual. No manual interaction is required.

Samsung PL50 offers a Smart Album program
In addition to Smart Auto, the Samsung PL50 features Samsung’s Smart Album program. Smart Album allows users to easily search for a specific image they have saved on their memory card. Smart Album automatically organizes the user’s digital images and gives them the ability to narrow their search based on the date or week the image was taken, the overall color tone, or whether they’re searching for a photo, video, or voice memo.

Samsung PL50 digital camera features
Other automatic controls found on the PL50 include Face Detection, Blink Detection, Smile Shot, and Beauty Shot. Designed to help capture better portraits and group shots of family and friends, Face Detection technology detects up to nine faces and automatically adjusts focus and exposure to ensure better composition and image quality. Smile Shot automatically triggers the Samsung PL50 to take a photo only when the camera detects smiles on the subjects’ faces, and Blink Detection will automatically fire two consecutive shots if the camera detects that a subject’s eyes are closed. Beauty Shot is a progressive functionality that automatically enhances and balances skin tones as well as removes blemishes.

Frame Guide feature on the Samsung PL50
The Samsung PL50 features Samsung’s new Frame guide feature which means you no longer need to rely on the technological capabilities of strangers for perfect holiday snaps. When you use the setting, the camera takes a ghost picture of your desired shot and displays a template when you pass the camera over to someone else - ensuring they take the picture you want them to take.
