The next Fujifilm Euro Press Photo Awards for professional photographers throughout Europe have just been announced. In the current competition, entries can be submitted to the categories Architecture, Sport, Fashion and Europe. Category winners will first be selected in each European country. The European winner will subsequently be chosen from among the national winners. In Germany, the closing date for the first round is January 10, 2005. The winners of each category in the German preliminary round will receive 5,000 Euro apiece. A jury of famous photo-graphers and photo experts will select the winners by the middle of February; these will also qualify for the international finals in Lisbon.

International finals: 40,000 Euro prize money
The finale of the Fujifilm Euro Press Photo Awards 2005 will take place in Lisbon in April 2005. Here the winners from around 20 European countries will be competing. The international prize winners of each category will receive 10,000 Euro apiece and the title "Fujifilm European Press Photographer of the Year 2005".
Information and contact
The Fujifilm Euro Press Photo Awards 2005 are open to professional hotographers. Photos must have been taken during the period from January 1, 2004 through January 1, 2005. Up to 10 slides or prints may be submitted for each category. For the national round, prints may be no smaller than DIN A4. For the international finale, prints must measure 50 x 70 cm and be printed on Fujifilm paper. Entries may not have already received prizes at other photo competitions. Architecture
Architecture, how it shapes the face of our world. This includes modern constructions as well as classical edifices - the glass and concrete palaces which are some modern hotels as well as the Pyramids and the Acropolis.
Sport
This category is for action photos which radiate dynamism, speed and sporting competition.
Fashion
Fashionable creations as they are presented on international catwalks, as they appear in advertising, performances and the cinema, fascinating people all over the world.
Europe
Where are the frontiers of the New Europe? In view of the rich cultural heritage, do the countries in Europe also have anything in common? What holds the European structure together? |
