Sony EricssonSony Ericsson's S710a mobile phone was today presented with a Best of What's New Award from Popular Science. Heralded as "a new design concept for mobile phones," the eye-catching S710a flaunts a unique 180-degree swivel-open design that easily converts from mobile phone to digital camera. Consumers could experience the S710a's powerful multimedia and entertainment features at Popular Science's Best of What's New product showcase in New York from November 9 - 11. "Best of What's New is the ultimate Popular Science accolade, representing a year's worth of work evaluating thousands of products," said Editor Mark Jannot. "These awards honor innovations that not only impact the way we live today, but change the way we think about the future."
Sony Ericsson S710a honored with AwardThe S710a captures special moments in high-quality resolution with its 1.3 megapixel digital camera and 2.3 inch 262K color screen. In horizontal mode, the phone serves as a digital camera and records video clips. Vertically held, it has the look and feel of a phone, mini organizer, gaming and messaging device. Inside, the S710a is equipped with a traditional mobile phone key pad.

"We are honored that the jury panel from Popular Science recognized the Sony Ericsson S710a as the Best of What's New. Sony Ericsson has combined a distinct blend of technology, content and market know-how in creating the award-winning design of the S710a," said Urban Gillstrom, president of Sony Ericsson, North America. "During product testing, the sophisticated and sleek S710a continually produced the highest quality printed photos of camera phones on the market today, offering consumers true digital camera performance. And, with the S710a's Bluetooth wireless technology, photos can be easily printed."

The tri-band S710a takes advantage of today's GSM/GPRS/EDGE mobile networks to provide fast access to messaging, content downloads and interactive online gaming. Consumers can take advantage of the high-speed connection and Sony Ericsson's QuickShare(TM) technology to easily and quickly send and download picture messages, e-mails, music and game files with family and friends.

The S710a includes an MP3 player and MusicDJ(TM), a new feature for composing personalized ringtones. The S710a also offers a wide range of features, including:
-- Bluetooth(TM), Infrared and Memory Stick Duo connectivity
-- Up to 7 hours of talk-time and up to 300 hours of standby time
-- 262K color display, 240 x 320 pixels
