The coveted innovation prize from the editorial team of Color Foto will be awarded to Fujifilm this year, the prize was awarded for the unique SR image sensor, which ensures a substantially greater dynamic range in digital cameras. The initials SR stand for Sensitivity Range, thus for high sensitivity with a substantially extended dynamic scope. That means that when these digital cameras are used for high contrast motifs one to four times as much dynamic scope can be achieved. This was made possible by the special structure of the Super CCD SR, which has both high sensitivity and low sensitivity pixels. SR-Sensor for high contrast imagesThe Super CCD SR has two different pixel groups: Larger, particularly sensitive S-pixels.

These larger pixels serve to capture dark picture elements and smaller R-pixels for the capture of lighter areas.
The information from both sensor elements is combined. Thus balanced, high-contrast pictures can be taken in difficult light conditions with details recognizable inboth light and dark areas. The SR sensor technology is used in the FinePix F700, the FinePix S20Pro and the digital reflex camera FinePix S3Pro, in which a further developed Super CCD SR II Sensor is used. Details can be found at www.finepix.de under the FinePix Highlights section. In the specialist article on the strengths of the Super CCD SR you can also find test photos with a particularly high range of tone values, which make the progress in the representation of details visible at a glance. |
