SonyLaunched last month, the new Cyber-shot V1 has now been honoured with a prestigious Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Award for ?Best Digital Prosumer Camera’ at the recent TIPA European Photo & Imaging Awards 2003-2004. It certainly hasn’t taken the DSC-V1 long to win the respect of one of Europe’s most influential press titles. This award for the camera is a powerful recognition of its quality, performance and value. “We are really pleased and excited with this important accolade” Said Akihiro Nishikawa, Vice President, Sony Digital Imaging Europe. TIPA is Europe’s largest independent organisation of photo imaging magazines and the awards are voted for by editors from over thirty top titles in twelve European countries."
"Being honoured by such a broad and discerning panel of experts is a tremendous compliment that all of us at Sony are very proud of!”

The DSC-V1 is typical of a new breed of Cyber-shot digital cameras that offer photographic enthusiasts even more freedom to explore their creativity. Featuring 5.0 effective Megapixel image resolution, 4x optical zoom, NightFraming and a superb Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar lens, this is a serious high performance camera providing stunning picture quality in all kinds of conditions. Compact and stylish, the Cyber-shot V1 has been designed to fit comfortably in the hand and with the latest ergonomic developments is quick and easy to use too. A high speed USB interface allows for simple PC connectivity and up to 1GB of data storage capacity is available with optional Memory Stick PRO™ media. The DSC-V1 is the ideal digital camera for today’s demanding photo enthusiast looking to capture top quality shots on the move.

Sony also received the ?Best Camcorder in Europe 2003-2004’ Award from TIPA for its sophisticated DCR-TRV950 Mini DV Handycam. Yet another impressive commendation for this widely respected 3CCD semi-professional camcorder with 3x 1.07 megapixel CCD, which picked up an EISA Award last year. Both awards will be presented at the TIPA Awards Ceremony in the Netherlands this September.
