DxO Labs, a software company focused on research in image processing to enhance image quality, announces DxO Analyzer 2.0, a major upgrade of its breakthrough camera quality measurement tool. DxO Analyzer 2.0 will be previewed during the Photokina trade show and will be available mid November 2004. In addition to providing thorough analysis of four critical performance characteristics for any digital camera (e.g. Distortion, Chromatic Aberration, Blur, and Vignetting), DxO Analyzer 2.0 adds several major enhancements: Image noise can be characterized in several ways with descriptive terms such as "intensity", "graininess", or "color differences", but up until now these dimensions have been difficult to quantify.
|
 DxO Analyzer 2.0 offers the first easy to use, scientific way of measuring these different "qualitative" aspects of noise that go far beyond a simple S/N1 ratio, by providing the following indepth noise characterizations:
- The noise standard deviation curve that reflects the noise level at various grey levels;
- The noise spot surface in pixels, characterizing the graininess of the noise. The larger the surface, the rougher the noise;
- The noise coloration index, a percentage reflecting the amount of random colors within the noise.
Cameraphone image quality measurement capabilities
Since cameraphones are revolutionizing the imaging world, optional support for these devices has been added to DxO Analyzer 2.0. This additional support provides journalists and cameraphone manufacturers/OEMs with specific tools to evaluate or specify cameraphone image quality.
New targets expanding measurement capabilities
DxO Analyzer 2.0 is also now available with different sets of targets to extend
the scope of equipment measurement ranging from “fisheyes” up to telephoto lenses, including macro and cameraphones.
Improved user interface
DxO Analyzer 2.0 provides significant user interface improvements over earlier
versions, enabling:
- 100% automatic batch processing
- Better readability of results
- Management of results database
DxO Analyzer adoption is fast growing worldwide
First introduced in February 2004, DxO Analyzer has quickly become a
reference tool for Digital Still Camera (DSC) manufacturers and leading
photography media titles - such as: "Popular Photography & Imaging",
"Chasseurs d’Images", "Le Photographe", "Luminous Landscape"and "FOTO
Digitale". In addition to media titles, photographic test laboratories have
adopted DxO Analyzer to create their DSC buyer guides - such as FNAC, one
of the European leaders in photographic consumer testing, for its latest
"FNAC digital cameras summer 2004 review" including 60 digital cameras.
Pricing
DxO Analyzer 2.0 regular pricing is as follows:
- DxO Analyzer 2.0 license: US$ 22,750
- Optional DxO Analyzer Cameraphone Module: US$ 8,750
Partnership Program for Qualified Non-Vendors
DxO Analyzer 2.0 is available for Press, Independent Experts, Educational, Consumer Testing Labs and other Qualified Non-Vendors under a special partnership program. Interested parties should contact DxO Labs at info.Photography@dxo.com. |
