OlympusRespected by consumers and valued by retailers, the EISA awards are also highly coveted by manufacturers. And once again, Olympus is one of the recipients. Its CAMEDIA C-8080 WIDE ZOOM has been crowned "European Digital Camera of the Year 2004 - 2005". Comprising nearly 50 leading photo, video, audio, home theatre and mobile electronics magazines from over 18 European countries, the European Imaging & Sound Association is admired for its independence and judgement. When making their decision, the jurors look for new products that combine the best in technology, features, design and ergonomics as well as value for money. With this Award Olympus has once again proved its technical prowess and relentless commitment to customer requirements.
Olympus Camedia C-8080 European camera of the yearMr Hans Thiele of Olympus Europa GmbH comments: "An EISA award acts as a fantastic help for consumers when purchasing and is welcomed as a powerful sales argument by all dealers. It underlines both the amazing quality of our C-8080 WIDE ZOOM and the innovative power of Olympus."

The EISA award represents the crowning achievement for this Olympus model that has already chalked up an impressive list of test wins. Commenting on their reasons for choosing the camera, the EISA jury said: "The Olympus CAMEDIA C-8080 WIDE ZOOM was developed to utilise the maximum performance potential of the CCD sensor to enable fascinating results of the utmost quality. It offers eight million pixels and a precision optical system - the focal range corresponds to 28-140mm on a 35mm camera. Special glass was used for the construction of the lens to minimise chromatic aberration. Finally, the robust magnesium-alloy body also houses an innovative, tilting ?sunshine monitor’ that proves especially practical for macro shooting."
