Our good friends at Imaging Resource published a review of the super compact Nikon Coolpix 3200 camera. This new model was introduced at the CES show, January 2004, in Las Vegas. The camera is the successor of the Coolpix 3100 and is designed for the beginning photographer who is taking his or her first steps into digital photography. The Coolpix 3200 is equipped with an image sensor that offers 3.2 effective Megapixels. The camera features a Nikkor optic with a 3x optical zoom. In spite of the very compact size, both new Coolpix cameras lie comfortably in the hand with a pleasant grip. The 1.6 inch display with a resolution of 80.000 pixels offers optimum visibility of your captured images, as well as the clear menu in ten languages.

According to Imaging Resource: "In keeping with the tradition of the entry-level Coolpix line, the Coolpix 3200's exposure control is very straightforward. Operating mainly under automatic control, the Coolpix 3200's user interface is easy to learn. Most of the exposure options are controlled through the multi-page LCD menu system, although a handful of external controls access basic features.", " Throughout my testing, the Coolpix 3200 produced slight color casts, but its color was quite good overall. Skin tones were good, and the always-difficult blue flowers in the Outdoor Portrait test came out very well. Indoors, the camera's white balance system did an unusually good job with the tough incandescent lighting?", and " From the sharp Nikon optics to the full range of exposure control, the Coolpix series has satisfied a wide range of users. The Coolpix 3200 continues this trend,?"
