Our good friends across that big blue ocean published their review about the new watertight Optio 43WR digital camera. The new Pentax camera features 4.0 effective Megapixels, a powerful 2.8x zoom lens, and a JIS Class 7 waterproof rating that keeps the Optio43WR watertight. So, go ahead and dunk the Optio 43WR! The latest PENTAX Optio digital camera is the perfect companion for outdoor photography in rain, snow or a day at the beach. (The Optio43WR may be immersed up to three feet for less than 30 minutes but should not be operated underwater.) The Optio43WR is compact and fast. The Optio43WR features an innovative image processing circuitry to record movies at the high resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.

According to Steve: "The shooting performance of the Optio 43WR was average. From power up to first image captured measured about 2.7 seconds. Using the "Quick Start-up" feature, power up to first image captured measured about 2.1 seconds. Shutter lag, the delay between depressing the shutter and capturing the image, was 1/10 second when pre-focused and 7/10 second including auto focus time.", "Outdoors, the Optio 43WR produces good results, our sample images were well exposed and colors were nicely saturated", and "The majority of our indoor samples were well exposed and skin tones were pleasing. I did notice an average amount of red-eye in our portraits, even when using the red-eye reduction flash mode."
