Kopin Corp. today announced that its 0.16-inch CyberDisplay-equipped CyberView 113K EVF is featured in the new key019 Key Ring Camcorder introduced by Royal Philips Electronics. The key019 features an ultra-cool design, which, at 3.5 inches tall, 1.2 inches wide, less than 1 inch thick and weighing a mere 1.6 ounces, is the size of a PEZ candy dispenser. This unique design captured Popular Mechanics' Editor's Choice Award for new product innovation at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show and was featured in the May 10, 2004 edition of Time magazine. The key019 Key Ring Camcorder was designed and is sold by Royal Phillips Electronics and is being manufactured by Kinpo Electronics Co.

The key019 combines the capabilities of a digital camcorder, a 2-megapixel digital camera, an MP3 player and a 128-megabyte USB storage device in a product that fits on a key ring. Kopin's unique microdisplay enables users to accurately frame the subject and to capture pictures or video with exceptional resolution and vibrant color image quality.
The key019 is the latest in Philips' highly successful "Infotainment" family of Key Ring wearable devices designed to bring a new level of style, compactness and convenience to consumer digital electronics. It stores 25 minutes of continuous MPEG-4 video recording or up to 200 still images, and up to four hours of music or other audio. It also can be used as a portable data storage device for transferring files to a PC.
"The selection of Kopin's CyberView 113K EVF for this unique multimedia device is a testament to the superior operating characteristics of the CyberDisplay," said Dr. John C.C. Fan, Kopin's president and CEO. "With unsurpassed image quality, ultra-small footprint and excellent power efficiency, Kopin's CyberDisplay family of microdisplays is enabling a new generation of fun, stylish and ultra-portable consumer electronic products."
Kopin's CyberView 113K EVF features the CyberDisplay 113K, the world's smallest color filter liquid crystal microdisplay that, at 0.16 inch diagonal, is about the size of a grain of rice. The display consumes just 10 milliwatts of battery power, making the CyberView 113K EVF far more power efficient than competitive offerings. When paired with an appropriate optic, CyberView delivers a virtual image size as large, clear and vibrant as full-size displays. In addition to the display, the CyberView 113K EVF includes the lens, polarizer, backlight and housing.
Kopin's CyberDisplay 113K utilizes ultra-small color-producing pixels for exceptional image quality. Each pixel is comprised of a red, green and blue sub-pixel measuring a mere 6.3 x 11.3 microns each. There are a total of 113,578 sub-pixels in the 0.16-inch diagonal display, a density which has never before been achieved.
The key019 is now available to consumers worldwide. |
