Sigma 12-24mm lens wins Award : Sigma announces that the super-wide angle zoom lens 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM introduced to market last November (first zoom lens that has 122 degree diagonal angle of view at 12mm focal length) was awarded Camera Grand Prix 2004 Special Prize by Camera Press Club. Camera Grand Prix is the official prize of "Camera Press Club" which consists of 13 main Japanese Camera and Photography magazines. This year marks the 15th anniversary of Camera Press Club's Special Prize award given to popular, advanced imaging products. Sigma wins "camera press club Special Prize" second time. First time, "SA-300" and Interchangeable lenses of Sigma have won this award in 1993.

Sigma 12-24mm lens - Exceptional
Except fish-eye lenses, this super-wide angle lens is the only lens that has 12mm focal length and can be used with Digital SLR cameras as well as film SLR cameras. Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of colour aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses. Variable angle of view from 122 degrees to 84.1 degrees along the diagonal axis, enables photographers to shoot a variety of subjects.

The 122 degree diagonal angle of view at 12mm focal length enables photographers to express their intentions in ways that were not possible until now. The variation of its? angle of view is from 122 degree to 84.1degree. The large angle of view 122 degree, at 12mm along the diagonal axis, is ideal for shooting indoor as well as landscape photography. This lens is very suitable for use with digital SLR cameras that accepts interchangeable lenses.

HSM ( Hyper Sonic Motor ) can provide quiet, high-speed auto focus shooting, as well as full-time manual focus. After focusing with AF, it is easy to operate the Manual Focus by just turning the focusing ring. The new 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 28cm /11 inches at all focal lengths.
Sigma 12-24mm lens - Compact design
It is equipped with Inner focusing system that will keep the length of the lens unchanged, while also controlling aberration. Four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for effective compensation of colour aberration, which is a common problem with super-wide angle lenses. Two pieces of Glass Mold and one-piece hybrid aspherical lenses offer excellent correction for linear distortion as well as all types of aberration. By effective arrangement of lens elements and advanced technology, this lens has Super Compact dimensions of 100mm / 3.9inches length, and 87mm / 3.4 inches maximum diameter.
