Jeff Keller, the man behind the website of DCresource, produced a review of the new Olympus C-8080 WIDE ZOOM digital camera. This 8 Megapixel model was introduced during the PMA 2004 in Las Vegas among a whole bunch of other 8 Megapixel cameras. This 8 million pixel digital camera, protected by a magnesium alloy body, features a 5x wide zoom lens, a specially designed Sunshine LCD and a short release time lag. This model further features an electronic viewfinder which keeps down the camera's overall size and brings a number of advantages to the photographer. The focal length extends from 7.1 to 35.6mm (35mm camera equivalents: 28mm to 140mm) for a range of subjects and styles, from landscapes and architecture to intimate close-ups.

The camera is also compatible with a wide range of CAMEDIA system accessories, such as a power grip, and has a bayonet mount system (like those used in SLR camera systems).
According to Jeff: "The C-8080's body is sort of a mix of the C-5060 and the old (but good) E-10. It's got a magnesium alloy body (and just a little plastic) and it's built like a tank.", " The camera does very well in the shutter lag department, as well. I didn't notice it at all until slow shutter speeds like 1/8 sec), and even then, it was barely noticeable.", and "All things considered, the C-8080WZ is a good choice for those who want lots of controls and 8 Megapixel resolution."
