Casio Exilim V7 digital compact camera
Casio is a unique brand and the Casio EX-V7 is a good example of their uniqueness. The camera not only has a very fine design, but it is filled with special features. The Casio Exilim EX-V7 is the most compact camera with a 7x optical zoom. It is quite an achievement to fit this much range in such a small body. The camera is equipped with a physical image stabilizer, which is a true image stabilizer. With special functions such as brightness control and perspective correction the Casio EX-V7 is a remarkable camera which will appeal to a lot of people. The possibility to correct the photos within the camera is a pleasant characteristic. For those that want to be able to do a lot of things, the EX-V7 is the right camera for them.
Casio V7 - User friendly camera
As a digital compact camera the Casio Exilim V7 was quite enjoyable. It has an excellent body, good autofocus; it is pleasant to operate and has a very clear layout. The LCD screen is great; it is one of the best currently available. The menu structure is also high-level. I would like to see that more often. It is incredibly intuitive and very legible. Yes, the Casio EX-V7 is one of the most pleasant compact cameras that I know. It is actually surprising to realize that such a positive experience is found in a non-photographic brand.
Casio Exilim EX-V7 - ISO settings
If you work mainly in the wide-angle position, and use high sensitivity, you will achieve great photos, with a pleasant, not too saturated, colour balance, good lighting, even in difficult lighting situations, and a reasonable sharpness for the whole range. This makes the camera a good, basic camera. The Casio V7 has a lot of trouble when you demand more of the camera, such as the high ISO rates of 400 and higher. At ISO 400 the image quality is reduced, and you are best to avoid ISO 800. The built-in flash is somewhat disappointing, its effective range is limited and delivers underexposed shots when you do not take the distance with the subject in consideration.
Casio Exilim V7 - 7x optical zoom lens
To fit the 7x optical zoom in such a compact camera as the Casio Exilim EX-V7, obvious sacrifices were made. You lose quality while zooming in, the results are less sharp, you lose detail, and it becomes a bit vague overall. The Casio V7 disappoints me in this and this diminishes the overall quality of the camera. It is quite an achievement to equip such a camera with such a large optical range, but this should not be at all costs.
Casio Exilim EX V7 - Stylish digital jewel
Let it be clear, the Casio EX-V7 is a finely designed camera, easy to operate and has a lot of creative application possibilities. It is a great camera for snapshots and is easy to use, but the demanding user will soon discover its limitations. This is not the group Casio wishes to target, however. The specifications, the extensive automatic programmes and internal image editing are impressive, and ensure that the Casio Exilim EX-V7 is a very attractive digital camera. When Casio improves the quality of the internal optical lens, the Casio Exilim EX-V7 will have a guaranteed share of the market. Now the Casio Exilim EX-V7 is a stylish digital jewel, which is not too bad, either.

Casio V7 - SanDisk Ultra II SD memory card
The Casio Exilim V7 has a standard resolution of 7 Megapixels. For the most applications this resolution is more than enough. An added advantage is that do not have to invest in extra capacity, unless you plan on taking the Casio on a trip around the world. It is also not so important to have a very fast card, although the SanDisk Ultra II is recommended. Writing to the memory is fast and the photos can be written quickly to the hard drive. For storage capacity, I would say that 256MB is the absolute minimum, and 512MB is recommended. The table below shows how many photos fit onto a 256MB Secure Digital memory card.
