The Samsung Digimax A40 digital camera is really good because the picture-quallity is very good but if
you have got the flash of then is the picture woobly.
The Video-function is very good you can record with 15 frames or 30 frames
(frames=pictures pro minute) and you can zoom while you record a video but
the sound getting off. you can record a film with 640x480,320x240 and 160x120
The consumption is very good you can shoot over 300 pictures with a 1900 mAh
battery. It need a AA Mignon battery.
Fazit: The camera is easy to control. You have got a lot of functions. All is
very good. It has got red eye reduction. The viewfinder is the red light.
Last words: I bought the cam for 129 euro(circa 153$). I give the cam 97
points I can't give it 100 because flash.

I bought the Digimax A40 camera because I wanted something that can do
the famous Mpeg4 video format, 30fps #640X480 and I have always been happy
with Samsung cameras as far as picture quality is concerned. There are a lot
of features, eg special effects, sepia, b&w etc although that is nothing
that can't be done with photo editing software. Picture quality is good and
optical zoom is good, however in video format the sound quality could be
improved; is a bit quiet, but all round I am happy with the performance of
the camera. The macro mode also lets you get very close to the subject at
crystal clear quality.

The Samsung Digimax A40 is a very good digital camera with excellent results. Good effects created using b/w, sepia and coloured filters etc.. good red eye reduction and clear, sharp photos. Can certainly recommend to anyone.

The Samsung Digimax A40 is a neat little camera, ideal for beginners. The video function is surprisingly good and quality of photos is excellent, especially when shooting insects and spiders in macro mode. Shutter lag is a bit of a problem. I took some photos of The Darkness in concert and used the firework mode. Some were excellent but if you have shaky hands, or had a few drinks the night before, the longer exposure will create a blurred effect. The red eye reduction doesn't really work, but hey, you can edit that out with decent software. In all, this is a great camera. I bought it with a Samsung SP2020 printer for £85 on special offer, so can't complain. If you want to take photos at a concert or any sports grounds, then leave the Digimax A40 at home.

The Samsung Digimax A40 is a nice and cheap digital camera, small enough to carry with you in your pocket. The Digimax A40 has almost all advantages I expected of it, optical and digital zoom (3 and 4x) and decent images, although they are not as good as Cybershot cameras, but good enough for me. Pictures come out with enough light and in good colours. This Samsung camera has an excellent white balance (you can obtain a perfect one shooting a white target) and color compensation, nice video with audio of 30 and 15 fps, 1h max each segment of audio only recording, 10s voice label for pictures, 4, 3, 2, 1mp with three qualities and three sharpness levels on some modes, 10, 2 and 10-2 sec of timer, battery consumption decent but best if you use 2200mah nimh batt, I recommend quick chargers like eveready of 15min with 4batt. All in all, I recommend the Samsung Digimax A40 strongly.

The Samsung Digimax A40 was bought at a day's notice as my Nikon Coolpix was acting up and we were about to visit Rome. The results are good, flash-off needs at least a monopod to avoid shake and some city (ruins) views have a faint red tint. The in-camera editing is extensive and 2300 NiMH batteries will give 150-200 shots on "fine" + 1024x768. The start up is quick as is the recovery time between shots. The zoom of the Digimax A40 is a little trigger happy but probably practice will improve this. Haven't yet tried the movie function as have only 1 512Meg card and didnt want to fill it whilst away!! Good, solid construction, controls feel good but on/off button recessed on top needs a firm thumb to operate. Overall very satisfactory.
