I have had this camera for one weekend - it's been on two kayaking trips, one down a frothy river and on a lake, and on a hike through the woods. The Pentax Optio WP digital camera has taken some very nice shots, easily, and has been splashed on. Having ruined a camera on a previous kayaking trip, the waterproof feature of this camera is very important to me. I did find the LCD viewfinder somewhat difficult to use in the glare between the sun and water. I was left to blindly pointing and shooting, but the pictures turned out fine. Some of the pictures do seem a little washed out colorwise, on automatic setting, but I plan to experiment more with the many available settings to see if that improves. Camera rating: 8/10, preliminary rating, for ease and quality.

I don't know about other people, but personally I feel like the Pentax Optio WP digital camera does not live up to it's hype. Sure it shoots underwater, but the photo quality is poor for 5.0 megas, and the slightest motion blurs the picture. 50% of the time I'm unhappy with the pictures I get. I'm going to keep this one for water oriented trips but other than that I would avoid this camera.

I have had my WP for a 3 months. The zoom started a grinding noise. I contacted Ptax they told me if I send $25 with the camera they would fix it within 8 days, well after several calls and 2 weeks it came back still making the grinding noise. I call them back they gave me a courtesy rush so I would have it back in 8 more days. After over a month and several calls to them they said they would send me a new replacement. When it came in it was a refurbished unit, it did not even have a battery in the box, everything in the box looked used. At this point they will not send me a new replacement for my new camera. UNREAL. The cam took great photos terrible video in the zoom mode. Very waterproof. Better hope you don't have to get it fixed.
