The Panasonic Lumix DMC LX2 seems a bit better built and the black finish is nicer than the LX1, and it doesn’t seem to rub off. I wanted more megapixels and I got them. My only disappointment with the LX2 and it's a big one, is the shutter lag, even in the sports mode. I do a lot of street shooting and the LX1's shutter lag was nill. The LX2's doesn't compare.

I am new to digital photography but after years with my beloved canon A1, I understand the fundamentals. I had a Panasonic Lumix DMC LX2 for nearly one month and have taken industrial type shots and some outdoor pictures all at ISO 100 or 200 and I am very pleased with the results. The LX2 is really intuitive to operate and the only shortcoming to my mind is the lack of a view finder, but I can live with that. The lens is good and the 28mm view was a major consideration in choosing the unit. Shooting at low light in industrial environments has shown the stabilisation to be excellent. As for noise, I won’t use high ISO and I do like the feel of the images I have produced to date.
