Canon Powershot S80 Reviews from camera owners

The Canon Powershot S80 is an excellent digital camera, despite the lack of the Raw format, which I do not understand and hope that could be available on a future firmware if possible. Good lens, good tonal balance - very natural - excellent resolution, good array of features, manual control, optical viewfinder, good ergonomics in a small compact - not as pocketable as I would like - great camera. The Canon S80 is expensive but we pay for what we get: excellent quality overall. The rating is not 100%, as for the lack of Raw format, but the jpegs it produces are really nice. I recommend the Canon Powershot S80 camera for the serious photographer that needs something small to carry around.

Though, as pointed out by others, it lacks RAW file format capability it is still a very good camera. The Canon PowerShot S80 is fast and produces good pictures in full auto mode, you can go semi auto to full auto for special occasions or play around with various effects for fun. The video sequences are also very good and I was surprised at how good the video was even in poor lighting. It is the wide angle that is the key feature for me, I don't have to back away long to get all I want in the picture. The drawbacks are that it does not support RAW (which wont concern most users), the built in flash is easy to accidentally cover and has trouble lighting the outer most corners at max wide-angle.
