Canon Powershot A410 Reviews from camera owners

I felt I had to respond to Victor's review: having no aperture/shutter
priority is not a bad thing for a starters camera, neither is not having a
histogram or a zoom starting at 41mm - I think 35mm is a completely
pointless focal length, not wide enough to be of any use, 41mm is around the
"standard" prime lens before we enjoyed the luxury of zooms. The ease of
use of this camera is it's best bit - you turn it on and take a picture.
It's focusing is fast and accurate, making no manual focus less of an
issue, and it's shutter response is reasonably quick for a compact in this
range. Pictures are well exposed and colours are accurate & natural.
Conclusion: a great camera for technophobes and digital virgins.

Good: fast playback, fast focusing, fast response to shutter release, VGA video, great UI, almost no reading of the manual needed.
Bad: no aperture priority, no time priority, no manual focus, supermacro focus seems faulty, in playback does not show histogramm, aperture or exposure, focal distance starts at 41mm (most cameras in its class start at 35mm)

I bought the Canon Powershot A410 camera about two months ago and can only agree to the review that is given here, I was really amazed at the really good results it produces. It is a very fast camera compared to the usual slowness of Canon digital cameras! The Powershot S 60 is really slow! If you want to take a snapshot, this is it! There are a few things I don't appreciate as the zoom which only starts at 41mm, the LCD monitor is a bit small. But most important is the quality of the photos and that is excellent for a really low price!

The Canon PowerShot A410 is a great camera....sufficient for all needs of the everyday photographers. That is... until it breaks. These cameras have a horrible reputation for 'lens errors'. It happens to tons of these cameras, for no reason. It is a design flaw (which canon will not admit). Please, do not buy this camera, buy instead another camera that does not have a design flaw. Mine broke, so basically I wasted 200$. this is a warning... when you buy this camera you risk it.
