Canon Digital IXUS 800 IS Reviews from camera owners

I've had the Canon IXUS 800 IS for 2 weeks now and I love it. However, there is 1 thing that really disappoints me: the audio in the movies. It's simply awful. Lots of noise, very poor sensitivity. Coming from an Canon IXUS 4, I was bitterly surprised at seeing how this latter outperform the Canon IXUS 800 in this respect. A friend of mine who has also recently bought the 800 IS camera confirmed my opinion.

The Canon Digital IUXS 800 is exquisitely styled with a unique design, the camera incorporates a host of cutting-edge features, Real-Image Optical Viewfinder, Image-Stabilizer, and 'No more red-eye' were the most important features to me. I rate the Canon IXUS 800 9/10.

I find the Canon IXUS 800 IS a fantastic camera. My third in the Elph line and it is by far the best. Feels exceptionally well built and the slightly added weight and size make it much more comfortable to hold and stable in shooting. Photos look like an SLR took them and not a point and shoot. The Image Stabilizer actually works exceedingly well. The additional zoom makes much more of a difference then originally thought. Only recommendation that I can think of at this time is that I would like to see a 28 beginning point on Zoom, like the S80 has, and would love to see battery level prominently displayed. Otherwise, a very solid quality camera that sets the standard for it's class.

Having just bought an Canon 800 IS as an upgrade to an IXUS 500, I find this a worthy successor and new flagship for Canon. The CCD is sharp and the lenses are Canon quality. However, it is light and for a heavy handed brute such as myself feels very droppable. That said Canon built quality is very high, and
it would probably survive being dropped. The image stabiliser makes 4x optical zoom feel like twice that since your optical zoom can be used without a tripod. A very nice piece of kit.
