I had the chance to trial the PowerShot A700 and the IXUS 750. The pictures of the Digital IXUS 750 are beautiful as is the camera itself. This Canon camera is a jewel. I also got it on special offer, 30% reduction in price and this makes it even better. Its a truly point and shoot luxurious camera that not need to fiddle around to get good pictures. Just press the button. Its also a very inspiring thing to have around and take a lot of pictures. The Canon A700 is a full manual and automatic unit on a larger form factor with a 6x zoom and 800 ISO. For a fully manual control and 6x zoom at such a low price I believe its a bargain, considering that similar cameras are considered professional and cost at least 3 times as much. Pictures are good.

I only had the Canon Digital IXUS 750 for one day. I took one photo and the next time I took it out of its case the LCD screen had broken. I spoke to the sales guy at Jessops and they stated that the screen is delicate and have had a number of returns. I have checked a number of reviews and found that a few people have had problems. If you do not take out damage insurance, then it is very expensive to repair. I would not recommend this camera, as without the LCD it is useless, and the LCD is very delicate, be warned.

Overall disappointing. Have previously used the Canon IXUS 430 and had
excellent results. The Digital IXUS 750 camera is just not as good. Indoor shots are poor. I use the auto setting, but the flash does not throw
enough light to fill the picture, leaving dark shadows in most of the
pictures. All pictures are dark and need modifying with computer software. The cover for the AV/Out socket is very flimsy / fragile and will break before
the year ends. The camera buttons are difficult to handle, especially if you have large fingers. All the controls are operated through one dial. Another dial controls the auto, manual, scn, etc and this dial easily moves when the
camera is in a bag. On a positive note the camera is small and the LCD screen is 2.5".

Excellent everyday camera. I got surprisingly good results with the Canon Digital IXUS 750, even in dark settings. Love the way all the important controls are found on the dial, eliminating the need to delve into the menus. Build quality is unparalleled. Astoundingly fast start-up time. Not as much manual control as I wanted, but certainly enough there to get the job done. This camera is more than good enough for 75% of all photographers. Battery life could be better, and why Canon doesn't have a proper battery indicator (until it's almost out of juice) is beyond me. Overall: Highly recommended.
